The importance of the sink and the toilet in the bathroom is phenomenal. These are the appliances most used in the household bathroom, which is why you want to choose ones that are going to be the most functional in your bathroom so that you and your family are as comfortable as possible while using them.

There are several aspects to the toilet and sink that you need to think about when choosing which ones are right for your particular bathroom. Here are some questions for you to think about when deciding which sink and toilet is right for your situation:

How many people are going to be sharing this bathroom? For example, if you have more than just a couple people sharing one bathroom, you may need to choose a toilet that does not run for long periods of time. This allows for the toilet to be flushed multiple times in a shorter span of time.

Who is going to be using the bathroom? If you have younger children in the house, you may want to choose a sink that puts a limit on the water pressure and temperature the faucet is able to produce.

How easy will it be to clean these appliances and will they stain easily? If you have a lot of people in the house, and especially a household with kids, it may not always be convenient to clean on a constant basis and your appliances may become stained faster than if there is just one or two people in the household. For this reason, you may not want to choose a toilet or sink that's sparkly white. Instead, try getting something more neutral colored or even in a darker tone.

After functionality, comes design. If you are going to the trouble to put these appliances in your house, you might as well make them look good at the same time. For this, there is a whole other list of things to take into consideration. What style are you looking for? There are antique, retro, contemporary, luxury and many other styles and looks to choose from. What color scheme do you want? How big do you want your sink to be?

With all these things in mind, it should be a little bit easier to make some decisions about the type of toilet and sink you want to put in your bathroom. If you need more ideas, try consulting your neighborhood hardware store.

The appeal to Italian design is that it draws in influences from architecture, art and music, which are clearly represented in each piece of furniture or fixture. While Italian decorating is always at the forefront of modern trends, the room that deserves the most credit at this time is the bathroom. This room in the home has gained recent attention, which is why there are many new and innovative designs that make the Italian bathroom simply spectacular. Incorporating clean lines, modern fixtures and a simplistic approach, this room now uses integrated fixtures instead of separate fixtures. It acts as a single functioning unit, pure and simple.

Perhaps one of the most exciting additions is the Italian sinks, which have taken on a sleek and stylish appearance. They are wide and shallow, made from high quality materials such as porcelain or bent-wood laminate. Although simple, the sinks serve as the focal point for the bathroom since they are regularly used and have an artistic appearance to them. In addition to a shallow and wide basin, the sinks also have slim and sleek faucets that are commonly mounted onto the wall. Keeping the faucet out of the way yet well within reach is just another way that the Italians are making the bathroom all the more practical.

The dials may be placed near the faucet, although they are now commonly seen next to the sink or on the counter top, being highly convenient and easy to reach. Plus, this allows for the spout to be seen without having dials that take away from its appearance. Besides having wide sinks, Italian bathrooms are also seen using beautiful vintage bowls and basins that sit on top of the counter. In one design, a faucet empties water into a clear glass bowl, adding beauty and serenity in one simple step.

Other designs are consistent with integrated fixtures, such as by combining a sink, faucet and vanity into one unit. Not only does this make for less cleaning and maintenance, but the look of integrated units is uncomplicated, modern and neat, a symbol of Italian decorating. Since these newly designed sinks are often seen without bulky cabinets underneath, homeowners can install sleek shelves that go above the sinks to add room for bathroom accessories.

An Italian sink is made from the highest quality materials, ensuring that your purchase will look stunning and share a piece of history. Besides the famous porcelain, sinks can be found in authentic stone, marble and glass, as well as wooden choices.

What Are Vessel Sinks?

Vessel sinks are some of the trendiest and most stunning bathroom sinks on the market today-but what are they? Think of the old wash basins that people would have in their bath area or nightstand, possibly even before indoor plumbing. This is the basic shape of vessel sinks. Vessel sinks have a faucet that extends over the rim to fill it. Some sit above the counter, while others are mounted on the counter itself. You can find these sinks in a wide variety of styles, colors, and materials. If you are thinking of updating your bathroom for a more modern, yet classic look, you should take a look at the vessel style sink.

What Are Vessel Style Sinks Made Of?

You can find a vessel style sink made from many different materials, including china and glass. These are two of the most expensive materials used, and they may appear fragile materials. They are specially treated, though, and produced be very strong, durable, and long-lasting. You will also find more affordable vessel sinks made out of porcelain, copper, and brass.

Choosing Faucets For Vessel Sinks:

There are several faucet alternatives for vessel sinks. First, check your current plumbing situation and limitations. This will help determine the faucets available for the vessel sinks you are interested in. Some faucets may cause you to have your plumbing and piping positioned again. Make sure your budget allows for such variations.

Maintaining Your New Vessel Style Sink:

If you have a vessel style sink made of glass, china, porcelain, or any other surface that will scratch, you need to take extra care when you clean it to avoid scratching. Make sure you keep hard water stains off, and use only gentle cleaners. Use a non-abrasive cloth on vessel sinks that scratch along with a mild soap and water. For hard water spots, use vinegar on a rag. Don't use steel wool, abrasive cleaners, or harsh chemicals which may damage the finish on some vessel sinks and make them more prone to staining.

Remodeling your bathroom can give your home a whole new look and feel. The bathroom sink is usually one of the main focal points of the bathroom and therefore should be chosen carefully.

A New Bathroom Vanity to Freshen Your Bathroom

Glass Bathroom Sinks

Glass Bathroom Sinks

If you want to give your bathroom a new, fresher look, consider fitting a new bathroom vanity. The range of vanities that are available is quite extensive and you are sure to find exactly what you need to give your bathroom a fresh spark.

Consider the size of the room when looking at new vanities. Small bathrooms require a neat, compact vanity so that it fits into the space without taking over. Look for one of the new range of vanities with small sinks, shaped in ovals or rectangles, which sit closer to the wall and don't encroach on the room so much. You might decide that a pedestal sink without a cabinet might suit the room, especially if your decor is country styled. You can then put shelves or a shallow cabinet on the wall.

If your bathroom is large, choose a larger vanity to suit the proportions of the room. Consider using one wall to position a long vanity, maybe with a double sink arrangement, and mirror the wall behind it. This will tie the larger bathroom together better than smaller pieces, which can look disjointed.

You are not limited in materials these days either, when choosing a new vanity. There are sinks made from the usual vitreous china, but also stone, glass, porcelain and marble. Cabinets can be made to coordinate with the material of the sink, in wood or polyurethane finishes. Ensure that any porous material is properly sealed to make it suitable for the wet areas.

When decorating a home, the bathroom is often considered too difficult or expensive. It is an important room, and one that you are in often, so it is good to be able to find ways to freshen it up without too much expense. Replace the vanity, paint the walls a soft, relaxing color, invest in new towels and you will have a fresh new bathroom look, for minimal cost.

Cost is always a consideration when decorating, so take the time to look around and compare prices for the best deal in vanities. Many stores stock bathroom fittings and fixtures and there are numerous online stores you can check out as well.

It is simple to compare prices online, and then you can check out the stores. Look at discount vanity units and seconds stores for good quality at cheaper prices. Always ask for a discount; many stores will oblige you with an extra discount so you might be able to save money this way as well.

Bathroom vanities come in different sizes and models. They are sold as single bathroom vanities or a double bathroom vanity

The best options for blinds in areas of humidity, especially areas such as the bathroom and garage, are as follows:

2" Vinyl Blinds - Basically all vinyl blinds work well for bathroom blinds, or in areas of humidity; so while all of the choices here work great, the 2" vinyl blinds are the best because besides withstanding humidity, they have the added advantage of control of view and lighting in the room.

Vinyl Roller Shades - vinyl roller shades are great for areas of humidity, and these are usually the best choice when shopping for the lowest price. So if you are on a budget, and simply want something to last against moisture, then vinyl roller shades are the best, however, you need remember that the roller shades have a rather large gap on both sides. The reason for this is they sometimes tend to track to one side or the other when being raised and need the additional spacing to keep the material from hitting the side brackets. Thus, even though they are low priced, and even though they withstand moisture, they do not always provide enough privacy for the rooms in the house like the bathroom.

PVC Vertical Blinds - PVC Verticals come in a variety of styles, including smooth, ribbed, and embossed. The smooth style of PVC verticals are the best priced of these options. The embossed are the highest priced of the styles. Even though the smooth is cheaper, does not make it worse, in fact, the Smooth PVC is the easiest to maintain with it's solid smooth vanes. While the Ribbed PVC and Embossed PVC styles can be a little more of a challenge to clean, they can more than make up for that with all the beautiful color and pattern choices you have.

2" and 2 ½" Faux Wood Blinds - The 2" Fauxwood and 2 ½" Faux Wood Blinds are the most popular of this type. Why are they a good choice? Well they offer great moisture resistance without sacrificing beauty or light control. They do tend to cost more than the 2" vinyl window blinds.

Sheerweave Shades - The Sheerweave Shades are made from a PVC coated polyester that works great at repelling moisture, thus they are great options for bathroom blinds in that respect. However, because privacy is a concern in the bathroom, you may want to try one of the options above since this is a screen type material and at night with the lights on inside you will probably be able to see into the room. Most people would prefer more privacy than that in their bathrooms, however, for the sun room or patio, this is a great blind choice.

Bathroom blinds can be beautiful and functional, just make sure you get blinds that are moisture resistant.

Bathroom Sinks

Undermount bathroom sinks are being used with an ever increasing frequency. More and more homeowners are discovering that they can use these to add decorative flair to their washroom. There are many different options to choose from. It is just a matter of narrowing down your decision to just one option.

The traditional undermount bathroom sink is usually either circular or oval. Typical materials include porcelain or stainless steel. Which typical materials are nice, for real decorative pizazz you can opt for materials like marble or cement. The textural quality is quite lovely and adds real drama to a bathroom. One especially lovely version that is available is made from amber colored marble and is completely round in nature.

For something a little different you can opt for an oblong shaped sink that gradates in depth. One end of the oblong is only an inch or two deep while the opposite end of the oval is the standard depth for a sink. You need to have a larger counter space in order to accommodate this style but it is spectacular to look at and all sorts of fun to show off to your friends.

You can also find other shapes such as square or rectangular. Some feature a bowl that is the same depth throughout the bowl while others have a bowl that resembles half of a circle. Both styles are just as lovely, it is just a matter of determining which one would work best in your washroom.

Another modern but also really funky style is the leaf shaped sink. This style looks especially lovely when it is featured in a side by side set up. The dual leaf look almost resembles a vine that is draped gracefully across your bathroom countertop.

If you like flowers you can and should opt for a floral undermount bathroom sink. This style resembles a pretty white decorative bowl with flowers adoring the upper sides of the bowl. It mounts seamlessly underneath the counter and looks absolutely beautiful. If you have a guest bathroom that is in need of a more feminine touch, this might be just the sink for that room.

With so many unique styles to choose from you definitely have your work cut out for you when it comes to making a decision. But then again, no one ever said that successful bathroom renovating was going to be an easy task.

Understand Bathroom Sink Vanities Add Function and Eye Appeal a lot more

Bathroom sink vanities are items that are both functional and attractive. They can add considerable appeal to a bathroom and may be a good investment when trying to sell a home. Most buyers are known to put a great deal of importance into both bathrooms and kitchens, and a bathroom vanity is far less expensive than a kitchen remodel!

What is included bathroom sink vanities depends on the taste and budget of the homeowner. It can also depend on family size and needs. While the standard one sink models may be fine for most people, in a master bath, or a bath shared by several children, a double sink model may make more sense.

Most bathroom sink vanities will include storage space underneath, a mirror above the sink, countertops as standards. Options available are things like soap dishes and towel and facecloth hangers, drawers, and even electrical fixtures for hairdryers and other appliances. Those with more features naturally will usually cost more than plainer ones.

Styles can be ultramodern gleaming chrome, purely functional simple woods, thrifty molded synthetics, or elegant antique-looking cabinetry. Sometimes actual antique pieces can be adapted to create one of a kind vanities and a decor can be designed around such a stunning showpiece. Vanities come in unfinished woods to be custom stained or paint, or ready to use when brought home.

A less ambitious way to get a custom unit without the expense of a converted antique or purchased replica, bathroom sink vanities can be made from used furniture obtained at garage sales or found in storage. A person who is reasonably good with home repair can measure and cut an opening for a sink and for plumbing fixtures after finding suitable fixtures. Of course, counter tops need water resistant finishes.

There are many sources for inexpensive ready made bathroom sink vanities that may be quite suitable. Large home stores usually carry a lot of them and often have sales, and there are some online dealers who specialize in discount vanities. Most vanities cost only a few hundred dollars, although you can spend much more, and the small investment can add a lot of pleasure and usefulness as well as enhancing the sale value and appeal.

Go through Why You Didn't Become Fluent in a Language in High School a lot more

It's a common question: why am I not fluent in Spanish, French or Japanese ever having suffered through two to four years of it during high school? As you probably know from your own experience and that of your friends, high school language education helpful for ordering in restaurants, useful for getting into a good college, and perhaps makes a vacation seem slightly more authentic, but very rarely leads to a truly fluent level of speaking, writing and comprehension.

There are a few reasons for this. First, the human brain is a language learning machine during its younger years and becomes less receptive to languages starting at puberty. Second, we were never really meant to learn a language in a class room like something such as history or calculus. Instead, we all learned our first language through a natural process of immersion: Before we started speaking, we had exposure to thousands of hours of conversation around us.

When beginning to speak, we were strongly encouraged and not punished for small errors. Learning your first language wasn't something that you did for 50 minutes four times per week with some boring homework thrown in. Instead, it was our lifeline to the people, objects and culture around us. Compared to this organic experience, learning a language from a book is dramatically different. Even if language classes cannot reproduce the immersion that we all had growing up, it's still starting too late: language classes that began in elementary school or even before would be dramatically more effective.

Glass Bathroom Sinks

My husband and I renovated our master and guest bathrooms. Now we want to renovate the lower bathroom . We are senior citizens and updated bathrooms keep our home market ready. After doing some research we realized a total renovation would be too costly. But we could do a couple of things to perk up the bathroom, starting with replacing the sink.

I researched sink trends and found some were current and others were fading. You may be familiar with these trends.

Dual sinks. People like togetherness, but not at the bathroom sink. The dual sink trend started years ago and it is still hot. When we renovated our master bath we asked the plumbing contractor to run a pipe to a second sink. It was worth every buck. We are not going to install dual sinks in the lower level bathroom, however, because we don't use it together.

Vessel sinks. This bowl-type sink rests on top of the vanity. I wanted to put a vessel sink in the guest bath, but our contractor talked me out of it. Thank goodness, because the 10-year-old trend is fading. According to the Decorating Diva Website, glass vessels are "a cleaning nightmare" and show fingerprints, toothpaste, and yukky residue.

Drop-In sinks. This trend came from do-it-yourselfers. The summer 2009 issue of "Kitchen & Bath Makeovers" contains an article about sink styles called "Drop-In Delights." It says changing the bathroom sink updates a bathroom instantly. "A sink can be an artistic element in your bath," the article notes. If you are renovating a bathroom on a budget, however, art may not be a priority.

Undermount sinks. Beghan Dockendorf, a writer for "This Old House" magazine," thinks undermount sinks gives vanities a sleek look. Farm sinks, a trend from the past, have made it to the present and the future, according to Dockendorf. This simple design goes with many decorating styles.

Brushed metal faucets. "The taps are essential to the overall design as the sink itself," writes Dockendorf. Chris Conrad-Schultz describes faucet trends in "New Trends in Bathroom Sinks," published on the Suite 101 Website. He says consumers are looking for easy-to-clean surfaces -- brushed metals, less angles, and fixtures of muted silver, copper, bronze, and gold.

Cantilevered and deep sinks. "Bathrooms: Plan, Remodel, Build" by Creative Homeowner, says cantilevered, deep, and freestanding sinks are a hot trend these days. Pedestal sinks are still popular. Manufacturers have gone to great lengths to give sinks appeal by sculpting their forms," the resource explains, "but the simpler shapes are both more practical and easier to keep clean."

The two hottest trends, according to The Service Magic Website, are bigger and better. We can't make our lower level bathroom bigger, but we can make it better. I cleared the clutter, cleaned the bathroom, and have alredy bought the Parisian Taupe paint. But I can't paint until the giant mirror and outdated lighting fixture have been removed.

I will contact a glass company ask them to remove the mirror. My husband -- a talented and trusted handyman -- will take down the old light fixture. He will install a new fixture after I finish painting. Other renovations will occur when we are ready and our budget is ready. Renovating a bathroom in stages may be something for you to consider. One thing is sure, renovation is never dull!

Black & White Transforms an Ordinary Bathroom Into a Sleek, Chic Space

Bathroom

To be honest, the bathroom is one room that many home owners pay very little attention to with regards to design and decor. This room is used for very limited reasons; however it could be used for so much more! Relaxing and unwinding after a hard day's work is something that many people fail to do, and the tub is the perfect place to do it.

If the decor were a bit more dramatic, maybe people would use this room as more of a sanctuary when they want to get away from it all. This article explains how to transform the look of your bathroom, and make it an area of the house you will actually enjoy utilizing!

Start Out Slow

Until you decide if you want to incorporate black and white into your bathroom, start out with something simple to give you a taste of the look. A stark white wall adorned with a simple black and white print framed in solid black will give you an idea of what to expect. This decor is not for everyone, but if you love bold and dramatic it should suit you perfectly.

How Color Affects Your Mood

Different colors are proven to affect mood. With black and white, black radiates excitement and sophistication, while white represents tranquility. In this way, you can see that the two colors are a sort of blend of opposites, which makes for some very exciting decorating!

The Floor is Essential to the Overall Look

Many people ignore floors when it comes to decorating their home. In any room, the flooring and rugs can completely transform the look of the room! When considering the black and white bathroom, think about bold designs. Tile or marble flooring is great in the bathroom to begin with, and a mixture of black and white tiles makes a dramatic impact on the look of the room. The look is bold and exciting, yet refined and tranquil at the same time. If you currently have a snow-white floor in your bathroom, jazz it up with a jet black rug!

Include Great Accessories

The 'accessories' are the jewelry of any room. In the bath, the window and shower curtains can help pull the look together and make it complete. Choose a bold geometric or abstract pattern that incorporates black, white and gray if you like. Add a dramatic mirror over the vanity edged in black or silver. Decorate a large wall with an intricately patterned mural or tapestry.

To update the look of your cabinets, give them a coat of paint in either black or white. Finish off with a high gloss coat of polyurethane, and add knobs in the contrasting color. Can you picture in your mind how fantastic this bathroom is going to look? One thing is for certain - it will never be called plain or dull again.

Make your bathroom a sanctuary where you can relax and unwind after a long, stressful day. Fill the tub with scented bath oil, bubbles or whatever you like. Light a few candles, enjoy a glass of wine, and totally love your surroundings.

There are many different styles and designs you can implement into your bathroom remodel. You can significantly enhance the look of your bathroom with a new, stylish vanity and sink.

Depending on the size of your bathroom, you may elect to have a small pedestal sink. This can save a lot of space in guest bathrooms or bathrooms that are on the smaller side. There are many styles of pre-cast sinks that can sit atop a pedestal. Colors range from the most common of black and white to almost any custom color that you can imagine. Combining a unique sink style and shape to a pedestal can create an artistic and space-saving look that is both decorative and functional.

Smaller bathrooms may also have a simple wall-mounted sink. With modern fixtures and unique sink shapes and colors, however, a wall-mounted sink doesn't have to look plain. There are many options to bring style to a small bathroom, and artistic and functional wall-mounted sinks may be a good option for you.

The possibilities are endless for those who have the ability to remodel a bathroom with adequate space for a full vanity. Styles of bathroom sinks have evolved over the years, with the most modern styles mimicking a bowl-shape above the counter top. Some sinks can be pre fabricated to fit the counter top style that your are purchasing. Whether the material is marble or granite, bathroom vanities can be made to look stylish and decorative, all while providing the functionality one needs while using the sink area.

The bathroom cabinets can also be custom made to fit the style of sink. A wooden vanity with an undermount sink, along with several drawers and storage space, can add a significant amount of overall value to your home. There are many different types of pre-made vanities and wooden cabinetry that a unique counter top and sink combination can be built into.

When choosing the style of cabinetry for your new bathroom vanity, take into account the design scheme of the bathroom as well as accent colors and countertop material. Also, if this is a master bathroom, there may be room to include his-and-her sinks. Dual sinks can be an added bonus and add considerable appeal to your master bathroom. The wooden vanity can provide a tremendous amount of storage for your bathroom items while maintaining a clean and elegant look.

More expensive options for a custom bathroom vanity include hand-blown glass vessel sinks and stone or marble stands/countertops. These expensive extras will add a decorative and valuable charm to your bathroom and provide a relaxing atmosphere. Your artistic tastes can be on display in your new bathroom, with a vanity that incorporates all the functionality you need into its one of a kind design.

Bathroom Sinks

When rehabbing your bathroom, you are always going to be walking the line between function and style. One way to add both, and have fun at the same time, is through your bathroom sink choice. No matter what style theme you want to use in the room, there is going to be a large variety of sink choices that will fit it just fine.

The look of the sink will depend on the style, or you can look on it the other way and start with the sink and have that be the center piece of the decor and style. If you want a sink that will sort of blend in or be an accent to its surroundings, consider going with one of the common choices like an undermount sink or a drop in type of sink. These are sort of old standby choices in the bathroom, with materials like stainless steel or porcelain being the most common.

If you want to have a bit of fun and get outside the box, there are some choices in sinks that you can really go crazy with. If you want to make a center piece to the room, consider something like a vessel bathroom sink. If you have seen vessels then you know they come in a lot of different looks and can be quite beautiful. Material choices are things like glass, copper, granite, and marble. The cost of the sink will depend on its size and material, and also how decorative it is. Many vessel sinks are man made, and those will be more expensive as a rule than production line sinks.

When choosing just what the sink will look like, you have to know what your vision for the finished room is. For example, if you want a modern bathroom look, you can go with something like a clear glass vessel bathroom sink. These are sleek, clean looking, very modern sinks and would be a great choice for a bathroom of this style theme.

As you can see, there are countless ways to go when choosing your bathroom sink. Have fun with it, think outside the box, and when your bathroom is complete you will be more satisfied than you could have ever imagined.

Do you have a small bathroom to remodel?

Would you like to have a gleaming new bathroom but you're afraid that your tiny toilet just isn't big enough to turn into the ceramic heaven that you want?

Get to know your bathroom and spend time designing your new one

Before you write off the idea completely why not sit down with a few sheets of square graph paper and try out a few different ideas. Measure your bathroom accurately then draw it to scale on square paper so that you can see exactly where everything is.

When you've got an accurate drawing of your bathroom as it is now it's time to start dreaming about the bathroom that you would like to have. Put your current bathroom drawing aside and get a blank piece of graph paper. Draw the outline of your bathroom on this sheet of graph paper. Now take another piece of paper and draw accurate scale drawings of the things that you want to get into your new bathroom.

Cut out the shapes that you've drawn and try to arrange them on the outline of your bathroom. Because you only have a small bathroom you might need to be creative, especially if you want to get more into your new bathroom than you had in your old one.

An example of a small bathroom remodeling project

I recently remodeled my own small bathroom to make it more inviting and to add a shower cubicle to the room so that we didn't have to shower in the bath. The remodeling ideas all started when I dropped something into the bath tub and cracked it. I wasn't popular for doing that and I wasn't looking forward to the project but I love it to bits now it's done. You can read all about how I did it in the article Idea for Remodeling a Small Bathroom.

Ideas to help solve the small bathroom problem

Put a radiator high on the wall

If you have a radiator taking up wall space consider putting it higher up. This could free up space for a sink or toilet.

Place the bathtub in the middle of the room

If you are limited in where you can put the bathtub by pipework and uneven walls then think about putting it in the middle of the room away from all the walls. This doesn't work all the time but it might be an option for you.

Redesign the layout of the bathroom

Use your squared paper and cut-outs to test different layouts. It's amazing how many ideas it can give you.

Use a shaped shower cubicle

You can save space by using a shower cubicle with curved sides in place of a square one. It will probably cost a little more but if space is a premium then it could be worth it.

Install a sliding door

A door that doesn't need space in the room to open can give you more options.

Use wall mirrors

Mirrors can only give the impression of space but they are very effective at doing just that.

Install storage cupboards

Providing plenty of storage space up high means that the floor won't get cluttered with cosmetics, towels and cleaning materials.

I hope that you can see that even a small bathroom can be transformed into a dream if it's designed and planned well. Remember to take a look at how I remodeled my tiny little bathroom and added a shower cubicle while I was at it.

Bathroom

There is a relatively new trend in bathroom design and that is creating the home spa. Sure, the spa feeling includes glamorous vanities, exclusive light fixtures, luxurious bathroom accessories and much more. It sounds expensive, doesn't it? Well, this is not necessarily true. If you look at interior decorating magazines you wonder how professionals get such amazing vanities and bathroom suites. That's not so hard. Creating a luxurious bathroom is, as a matter of fact, an affordable task and having a luxurious bathroom is no longer the exclusive privilege of a millionaire or Hollywood celebrity.

Probably the first step in redecorating your bathroom would be the acquisition of a new bathroom suite. There are so many models to choose from and so many are really affordable. You can opt for a contemporary look infused with an antique touch to create a romantic feeling, or you can even choose deep-set baths that will enhance that modern look you are trying to create. Mixing styles is a modern trend: don't be afraid to experience it. You'll get a bathroom design out of its time, one that cannot go out fashion, because it's distinctive and inimitable. Inimitable doesn't mean expensive: just give eBay a try. There you'll find bathtubs and bathroom suites for any budget. Besides, manufacturers all over the world compete to create more appealing products, using innovative materials, including acrylic, mineral crystal composites (such as the Quarrycast developed by the UK manufacturer Victoria & Albert), cast iron and much more.

You can even get that wellness spa feeling with a whirlpool bath, a steam shower or a massage shower cabin. No matter if your bathroom is small or big, there are always ways to transform it into a real home spa. Be creative and you'll see: you have endless possibilities.

What else is on your wish list? Vanities? They need to match the style of your bathroom suite. If that's white, you'll not have many problems choosing the colors. Vanities come in different styles as well. However, you need to make sure what you purchase is protected against warping in moist conditions.

Mirrors are magic: just think how they can reflect the light of your aromatherapy candles while you enjoy a bubble bath. Contemporary bathrooms have large frameless mirrors mounted on the walls or on the ceiling, endorsed by accent lighting that delivers the genuine impression of an ultra-modern home spa.

To complete this feeling you'll need a few additional accessories, such as fashionable heated towel rails (on sale during the summer), modern or traditional taps with special designs, maybe some plants, candles or special lamps, eventually a bathroom TV or a bathroom radio-CD-MP3-player. It's really modern to have in a bathroom an LCD bathroom TV with heated screen (that allows condensation-free viewing) and inbuilt water resistant speakers. But, if you cannot afford it, a bathroom radio-CD-MP3-player will create a pleasant mood too.

One last tip: to complete the luxury feeling, use floor-warming systems. No more chills on a cold winter day.

Understand Old Bathroom Sinks - Quick Fix Tips extra

If you have an old bathroom sink, you may already have a problem with stains, cracks, or an outdated color or style. There are many solutions to these problems and not all of them involve getting a new sink installed.

If you simply want a newer looking, fresher sink, start by replacing the sink's fittings and faucet. This is an easy, cheap fix and can change the look completely. First select a faucet that matches the rest of the fittings and accessories in your bathroom. Next you'll need to make sure any new faucet you get will work with your old bathroom sink. This also gives you the opportunity to get an aerated spout, which mixes water with air, reducing water waste and splashing. This isn't usually available on older faucets.

If your sink is white and has a lot of stains, you can spend just $5 to fix this problem. Soak it in bleach and lay paper towels along the basin. This will freshen the sink and bring it back to its bright-white brand-new color. If it instead has an outdated color but you want to keep it, try reglazing it. If the paint is chipped or worn off in areas you can buy products to paint it white again.

If your old bathroom sink is cracked, you may need to replace it. However, you might also be able to buy the gel coat and glaze from the manufacturer or a hardware store, as long as you get the right color. All you'll need to do is catalyze the gel coat, put it on the crack or chip, and, when it gets hard, sand it smooth again.

There are so many options to help dress up an old sink in your bathroom, as well as repairing small damages. You don't have to throw it away and get a new one, because this can sometimes be too difficult or expensive. Staining bathroom sinks, bleaching them, or updating the faucet and fixtures are also great fixes that can breath new life into old sinks.

Just remember that these solutions may not always work. Also keep in mind that you'll need to check compatibility when you replace any hardware or faucets because older sinks may have sizes that are no longer used or are hard to find. Follow these guidelines and you can have a sink that looks brand-new and fits in perfectly with your modern or updated bathroom with minimal spending.

Understand 5 Alternatives to Bathroom Window Curtains additional

Bathroom

Although bathroom curtains will add a lovely finishing touch to a bathroom they are not essential for great bathroom decor as there are a number of window treatments that also look good. And in fact if you are looking for a minimalist look, rather than a romantic or country look, curtains will detract from the effect you want.

Here are 5 alternatives to decorating bathroom windows with curtains

1. Change the Glass

Replace the glass in your bathroom window with patterned glass which provides a degree of privacy. You can do this by replacing the glass itself or by adding a decorative film on top of plain glass. You can get different film to suit different themes - for example film made to look like etched glass would suit a Victorian style bathroom. If you want a special multi-colored effect replace the glass with a stained glass window - or simply add film made to look like it!

2. Use a Simple Fabric Blind or Roman Shade

Fabric roller blinds or roman shades add privacy and finish off the window nicely. They are available in many fabrics, colors and designs and with decorative edgings as required. If you think your window needs more add a valance along the top of the window.

3. Venetian Blinds

Silver colored metallic mini blinds gave a space age look to a modern bathroom and go well with modern fittings and faucets in chrome and cool colors such as black, white, grey, bright pink and turquoise. Wooden venetian blinds on the other hand are great for a bathroom in warmer cream and natural tones.

4. Indoor Shutters

Indoor Shutters are yet another window treatment that looks great in bathrooms. Most can be painted (and untreated wood would need to be painted to protect it from the steamy atmosphere of the bathroom) and you can let your imagination run wild thinking about various color options for a window treatment with great impact.

5. Add Accessories

If you think you bathroom window will look a bit bare without curtains then you could add accessories to your window sill which will add interest and further enhance your bathroom. Colored vases, bottles of colored bath oils, candles and soaps can be arranged in an attractive display. Or how about filling your windows with tropical plants of various sizes and shapes of leaves for a jungle effect - great with wooden blinds or shutters.

Read Bathroom Sink Vanities Add Function and Eye Appeal extra

Study The Beauty of Ceramic Sinks in the Bathroom more

Sinks are common fixtures in kitchens and bathrooms today. They are usually bowl shaped and can come in many different colors. They can also come made in many different substances from ceramic to metal. Ceramic sinks are usually made with enamel that is placed over cast iron. This coating makes this type of sink more durable than some other materials used. The ceramic material is made to resist heat, fading and staining.

For the kitchen, ceramic sinks, are usually installed in an under mount style. This means that they are placed inside of a counter top. This placement is perfect in the kitchen because counters tend to stand a bit higher than they do in the bath. They can come in a single or double style, depending on the need of the homeowner. There are also large, single sinks on the market as well. This style is a common feature in many older farm houses. These styles of sinks, which are made for the kitchen, also come in many different depths. Shallow sinks can work perfectly for a kitchen bar to wash vegetables. Deeper sinks are great for use of washing pots and pans.

Ceramic bathroom sinks come in many styles. They can be installed under mount or can be displayed on a pedestal. Some sinks can also be mounted directly to the wall with the plumbing hidden behind the wall. Just as the kitchen sink does, bathroom sinks can come in single or in double. Many homeowners will choose to have two single sinks installed into the bathroom. Today, bathroom sinks come in every color of the rainbow. White has always been one of the more popular colors choices used in bathroom designs with black coming in a close second. There are custom made sinks on the market today that are usually hand carved to the buyer's specifications. They are also hand painted before the final enamel is placed over the ceramic. These sinks are true works of art that are displayed for everyone to see. If these sinks are properly taken care of they can last a lifetime.

As in any other remodeling process, proper planning, budget, and execution are the major considerations for successful completion of work. If there is a proper access to plumbing and electrical outlets, then there is little to worry about.

During remodeling, first figure out the available space and check whether you will be able to install all the fixtures you desire in the bathroom. Start designing the bathroom keeping in mind the budget and space, as well as the facilities required in the bathroom. The average cost for basement remodeling can be as high to $43,000. Depending upon available space, you can choose a built-in vanity sink, bathtub, and cabinets. Calculate the required illumination for your bathroom and make sure to provide proper lighting at the mirrors and showers. You can also use spotlights throughout the bathroom for effective lighting.

Select the most appropriate bathroom flooring; the flooring should suit the various accessories and the general decor. Basement bathroom remodeling ideas include usage of extra space for storage and cabinets. Most of the bathroom sinks that you will come across are ones that are known as undermount sinks.
